WG 2.1 – Methods and Technologies

Major advances in sequencing technology and barcode methodologies over the past five years have simplified the task of barcode acquisition and lowered its cost. This working group will focus on two areas of research: new Sanger sequencing techniques for obtaining barcodes from difficult samples, including those held in museums and herbaria; and the use of next generation sequencing technologies for environmental barcoding.
