Mike Bruford

Dr. Mike Bruford is a molecular ecologist in the Cardiff School of Biosciences and Head of the Organisms and Environment (OnE) Division, with expertise in studying the demographic and evolutionary processes in small and fragmented populations. Professor Bruford is the Editor-in Chief of Heredity and serves on grant review committees in the UK and the European Commission. He is a member of the Forensics Committee and serves on the Steering Committee for the Wales Biodiversity Partnership, the Academy of Finland’s Ecology Grants Committee and the External Advisory Board for the University of Lisbon’s Centre for Environmental Biology. He was awarded the Zoological Society of London’s Scientific Medal, was elected a Fellow of the Learned Society of Wales and is a Royal Society Wolfson Research Merit Award holder. He received his PhD at the University of Leicester and worked as a postdoctoral research associate, research fellow and then Head of Conservation Genetics at the Institute of Zoology, Zoological Society of London.
